AISOV's public voice is organised around three connected responsibilities: defend universal human rights, keep community action peaceful and lawful, and share reliable stories from Iranian-Australian life.
To network within our community and beyond to promote basic human rights and preserve equality, dignity, and respect for all humankind. We are, and will remain, apolitical and non-religious. We do not endorse any political party, faction, or religious institution. Our advocacy is grounded solely in universal human rights and the protection of every person's inherent dignity in particular in Iran and here in Australia.
In light of the ongoing recent events in Iran, AISOV stands with the people of Iran - women and men, young and old, of all faiths or none - who seek freedom, equality, justice, and safety. We condemn all breaches of human rights and acts of intimidation or violence against peaceful protesters, journalists, human rights defenders, and vulnerable communities. Our solidarity does not align us with any political or religious group; it aligns us with the universal, non-negotiable rights of every human being.
To our fellow community members in Victoria and beyond, we urge you to:
Preserving and celebrating our rich heritage through arts, music, language and traditions.
Building connections and fostering friendships across all ages in our community.
Supporting wellbeing and contributing to the wider community.
Providing support, information and advocacy for newcomers and refugees.
Promoting learning skills and educational opportunities for a brighter future.
Raising awareness and providing support for mental health and NDIS participants.
